This model was built as my entry to the 2004 Polar Lights Online Bulletin Board Contest. I had a blast trying new techniques learned from members of the BB.
This model is a "super sized" version at 1/8th scale that Polar Lights decided to correct. The 1966-68 version of the Aurora style Hulk model kit was originally a 1/12th scale kit which was a little too small when lined up next to the Aurora monster kits that were so very popular.
The model was painted using acrylic paints.
I sprayed the base using KRYLON Ultra-Flat spray paint from WalMart. Then, I applied many different colors to create the rocky scene using Delta Ceramcoat and Apple Barrel paints of Rain Grey, Mudstone, Sandstone, Regency Blue and Cinnamon Apple.
I used a lot of dry brushing on this model to bring out many of the details. It really enhanced the look of the kit.
I used 3 different colors of green for the Hulk skin. The base coat was painted in Tamiya Deep Green. Then I applied some dry brushing using Apple Barrel Leaf Green. Hulk's hair was then dry brushed using Apple Barrel Vineyard Green. This gave a very nice skin tone effect that showed depth and strength. It brought out the muscles that bulged and ripped the clothes off from his body.
